Q:'Burned at Both Ends' is easily one of my most favorite songs on this planet. It has helped me through some rough times through different interpretations of the lyrics. Words cannot describe how much I'm in love with it. I was just wondering what the song was actually written about? Also, you need to come to mt. Airy ASAP:)

dustin and i wrote burned in his basement, before we even had a band. i think a general feeling of urgency was kinda hanging on both of our shoulders at the time and this turned out to be the first song we wrote from it.

the concept was: taking chances. there is a girl’s house/party scene narrative in it that probably happened to me about 87 billion times. i would see a girl i was convinced was perfect for me yet i was too scared to do anything about it. i would slowly start justifying my doubts and end up hating myself the minute i left for not saying a word.
the months prior to writing Burned, i made a conscious effort to give considerably less fucks about what people might think of me and live a bit more spontaneously. the feeling of finally breaking thru and improving something i hated about myself is really the biggest thread in the song. so glad to hear it helped you, regardless of any previous interpretations. thanks for caring enough to ask.
